Ume and the Cold

So here’s a tip for those thinking about making umeshu (plum wine). Don’t put the umes in the fridge, thinking it’ll keep it fresh longer because it’ll do the opposite.

When I bought the umes, I knew I couldn’t make umeshu as soon as I got home, so I thought I’d be smart and put them in the fridge to keep them safe from bugs and mold. Instead, I had to chuck a good 1/3 out because they got frostbite (mushy). I thought the rest was salvageable, but it looks like the correct answer was not really. :(

Umeshu With Bad Umes

I don’t know how it’ll taste when it’s ready in about 6 months, but I have a feeling that it’s not going to be great.

E3 2010

I finally uploaded my pictures from E3 onto Flickr.

I only went on Tuesday as that’s the only day the company gave. Some people went for an additional day, but I kinda felt that 1 day is good enough. I must be getting old.

I think the only game I really wanted to see was Final Fantasy XIV. My friend at SE let me in to play the game since there was a seat that was open. Woohoo! :) Ok, so the game was confusing, but I see the awesome potential there. Pretty, too.

MindHack is a WTH game. As in, this is not fun. :\

Medal of Honor’s multiplayer was kinda fun, but it felt like MW2.

Legend of Zelda’s controls were confusing.

Didn’t see Nintendo 3DS. The line was long and the wait could be anywhere between 30 minutes to over an hour. At my age, anything longer than 15 minutes better be worth it. I don’t find trailers and demos as worth it anymore. :P

The 2nd floor area was blocked off to exhibitors/2nd floor access badges, so I couldn’t get myself free water and food. My badge was exhibits only. That made me sad. Next year I need to figure out a way to upgrade my badge. :|

After E3 was over for the day, Adam and I tried to get into Wolfgang Puck’s so I can see the Lakers vs Celtics game. The restaurant was booked solid with RSVPs. :( We ended up walking around downtown Los Angeles looking for this one place that’s supposed to have a party, but we couldn’t find it. Turns out there was an intermediary location that we were supposed to go to first, but I never got the text because of AT&T’s network failure. -_- Anyway, at the party, I met up with people that I haven’t seen in a while. Pretty cool.

At a little past 9 PM, I was hungry and so was Adam, so we walked back to our car, stopping at the Panini Cafe for some grub. It was delicious. :9 Then back to the LACC to get my car and go home!

E3 Extravaganza 2010!

This year’s E3 started off with a bang tonight with a special Activision event at the Staples Center. Lots of music and guest appearances.

Let’s see if I can remember all the famous stars…

Usher
NERD
Rhea
Jane’s Addiction
Soundgarden
Eminem with Rhianna
Bohemian Rhapsody dude who’s name I don’t know…

Here’s an article about ATVI’s E3 event…

Ok, so I think the best part was Usher and Eminem. I don’t think I really cared about the rest, although Bohemian Rhapsody was fun.

When Call of Duty: Black Ops came on, there were fire coming out and fireworks! Crazy. That’s when Eminem got on stage, too. Pretty awesome.

Since the show started late, it ended late. I am so tired right now, but I’m really pumped about Black Ops and the event tonight that I had to make a blog entry.

According to the article above, the entire thing cost at least $5 million. Crazy.
