Osechi… GO!

This year I’m thinking about making osechi for New Year’s. I’ve been buying Kyou no Ryouri magazines and one of them had osechi making recipes. I think I’ll try it. Follow instructions, get delicious food! Well, that seems to only work about 99% of the time.

I also might end up lazy…. We’ll see… >.>;

Wicked Good

My weekend was pretty eventful. More so than usual I would think.

Saturday, I saw an ikebana demonstration hosted by the Sogetsu Los Angeles Branch in Encino with my sister. One of her clients invited Laura and she asked me if I wanted to go as well. If I ever actually take ikebana classes, I don’t think I’m going to join the sogetsu school… Not really my style of flower arrangement… Some of the other arrangements I’ve seen on the web as much better, but I think I would rather stick with a more traditional arranging than the freestyle of that school. I’m not saying it’s a terrible style, just not my style.

Afterwards, I wanted to take my sister to Torafuku for a late lunch, but they were already closed. We ended up at Bourbon Street for some delicious cajun food. The owner talked to us as well.

I was going to go bike riding at night with the C.R.A.N.K mob, but I decided against it mainly because I was tired and the even started at 9:30 PM. Instead I played FFXI. >_>;

Today, the only major thing I did was go see Wicked at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood with a coworker. It was pretty good and I enjoyed it. I would like to get the soundtrack, but I’m trying to save money for a camera lens, so I’m probably going to put off doing that for a while. Some of the things I liked about the musical was the costumes that they wore. Some were normal looking, some were oddly shaped. It must be fun to wear such outfits. Definitely the story. It was about the wicked witch of the west, but more like the telling of her side of the story. I also really like the name Elphaba.

The only complaint I had was of the audience. Some kids sitting behind me were holding entire conversations. Seriously? In $100 seats you want to hold conversations? It’d be much cheaper to go to Starbucks, buy a $5 coffee and sit around for 2-1/2 hours. The guy sitting next to me turned around to glare after the intermission when they started up again. I thought that those kids have to be pretty rich to be able to sit in $100 seats. My parents would have balked if I asked to go see a $100 musical at their age. Also the guy in front of me sat up straight in his chair making it a bit difficult for me to see the stage.
